In addition, Ken, John, and Richard discuss how a finite mind can try to understand an infinite concept like God. Once the powers ascribed to God were debated, Ken asks whether the good in the world is good in lieu of God liking it, or whether God likes it because there is some intrinsic goodness to it.   Graham Hancock discusses new evidence for an ancient lost civilization and the disaster that led to its end. Better than I thought it would be. This new book does not re-hash information discussed in detail in previous books, but includes mostly new information with references to his old books if you need more detail/5().

Books about books can be tricky things, a fact that Erika Swyler slyly acknowledges in her generous yet somewhat disappointing debut novel, The Book of Speculation.   The Creation of Adam is traditionally thought of as illustrating the Biblical creation narrative from the Book of Genesis in which God breathes life into Adam, the first man.

arrived at a~ a result of intellectual speculation. 'The proof of God's existence is not in man's. reasoning but in God's own activity', says Rowley.2 The Bible does not attempt to prove the existence of God. The concept is a priori and has priority over everything else. It is taken for granted. God's reality is.   In his recent books, Lindsey has stressed the importance of the "Six-Day [Arab-Israeli] War." Although he now refuses to set precise dates, he hints that is the likely year for the Second Coming, with the "Rapture" occurring in

I thought the book's discourse would contain ontological discussion centred on how the concept of god evolved and then leading to atheism. Approximately pages of page book concentrated on anthropological exploration of idea of god in various tribal groups, mainly of indigenous American tribes, but now extinct/5().

Only in Samaritan texts is God’s vice-regent personalized, angelic, demiurgic, and the bearer of God’s name. In the end, The Name of God and the Angel of the Lord reveals that not all gnostic speculation was anti-Jewish and, indeed, emerging gnostic and Christian traditions borrowed as much from Judaism as they criticized and by: Are the universe and God the same thing, or is God the Creator and the universe the Creation.

If there's a God, does he have an opposite, i.e. is there also a Devil. Are we God. Such questions have never been answered to the satisfaction of our entire species, but recent. Metaphysics, branch of philosophy whose topics in antiquity and the Middle Ages were the first causes of things and the nature of being.

Later, many other topics came to be included under the heading ‘metaphysics.’ The set of problems that now make up the subject. Professor of philosophy Peter Achinstein’s new book, Speculation: Within and About Science, is a powerful intervention in this timely debate.

Scientists must speculate, says Achinstein. But speculation has always possessed a certain slipperiness. “Speculation is a concept. Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy that examines the fundamental nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, between substance and attribute, and between potentiality and actuality.

The word "metaphysics" comes from two Greek words that, together, literally mean "after or behind or among [the study of] the natural". The acceptance of God’s existence does not require that one leave his or her reason at the door.

Furthermore, this type of metaphysical argument for God’s existence (and many others like it) shows how the perception that theism is intellectually shallow and naïve is simply a myth. Atheism by no means has the intellectual high ground. In this insightful book, you will explore the concept of time as it relates to the Creation, the Atonement, and the Resurrection.

Using scripture, quotes from General Authorities and prophets, and powerful personal insights, author C. Robert Line helps clarify the concepts of time, clearly identifying what is speculation and what is doctrine. Metaphysical definition, pertaining to or of the nature of metaphysics.

The Doctrine of God Chapter 1 The Word of God. No book has been so loved, so hated, so revered, so damned as the Bible. People have died for the Bible.

Others have. Robert Wright, a former "Christian," and author of The Moral Animal, has written a new book, in which he purports to show that the concept of God has evolved along with believes that the concept of God will continue to evolve until He becomes a complete patsy and all humankind will live together in harmony.

But God is beyond the sun, beyond any definition that you can make. Beyond your histories, beyond the great teachers and the great Messengers from God, beyond the great spiritual books and testimonies, there is God the Creator and the Author of your life and existence.

What God has created in you lives within you now. In Buddhist literature, the belief in a creator god (issara-nimmana-vada) is frequently mentioned and rejected, along with other causes wrongly adduced to explain the origin of the world; as, for instance, world-soul, time, nature, etc.

God-belief, however, is placed in the same category as those morally destructive wrong views which deny the kammic results of action, assume a fortuitous. For talk of God is dependent on a concept of the world, which can be established only through metaphysical reflection.

Appears in 6 books from References to this book. God's creations are always spiritual. This includes spiritual man (God-man) through whom all things, including personal man (Adam man) are brought into manifestation.

Spiritual man is the acme or pinnacle of God's creation--the image and likeness of God. "Thou art. The Evolution of God by Robert Wright The Evolution of God by Robert Wright is a book about the evolution of the concept of God.

The author makes use of archaeology, theology, and evolutionary psychology to explain how mainly the Abrahamic religions evolved. The book pages worth is composed of twenty chapters within five major sections: I/5(). The final pages are a fascinating unpacking of the following dense claim: 'Universal singularity is the concept of subjectivity, personhood, and freedom that Hegel affirms of God as triune because it includes the requisite conditions of concrete universality, non-coercive, affirmative mediation, and self-recognition in other' ().

For Rabbi, A Just God Without An Afterlife Is 'Inconceivable' Orthodox Rabbi Joseph Telushkin says his belief in some form of life after death flows from the persistence of injustice on earth. If. The Science of Logic, Hegel’s second major work, is a notoriously difficult ’s prose is dense, and his subject matter is onerous.

At the same time, Hegel understands his project in the Logic to be a significant one. Tracing the development of a series of concepts out of “thinking” itself, the Logic is supposed to provide the core of ontology and, in some sense, to mark a."I am a philosopher because I am a Christian," writes Brian Leftow.

"To many intellectuals, this probably sounds like saying that I am a dog because I am a cat." Indeed, prejudice against religious belief runs deep in the academy; in particular, many philosophers hold that faith is incompatible with their profession.

But Thomas Morris has met that view head-on by asking a distinguished group 5/5(1).Metaphysics of God in Philosophy - Chapter Summary. This chapter contains short and informative lessons that examine the metaphysics of God in philosophy.
